So Gosh Darn Quotable

There are some people in the world that are just so gosh darn quotable!  Here are a few of my favorites:

  • "Man can live about forty days without food, about three days without water, about eight minutes without air, but only for one second without hope." ~ Author Unknown
  • "Understand death? Sure. That's when the monsters got you." ~ Stephen King, Salem's Lot
  • "Life is either a daring adventure or nothing. To keep our faces toward change and behave like free spirits in the presence of fate is stregnth undefeatable." ~ Hellen Keller
  • "It is easy to hate and difficult to love. This is how the whole scheme of things works. All good things are difficult to achieve; and bad things are very easy to get." ~ Rene Descartes
  • "To conquer fear is the beginning of wisdom." ~ Bertrand Russell
  • "I don't know what's wating for us when we die - something better, something worse. I only know I'm not ready to find out yet." ~ Charles De Lint, The Onion Girl
  • "Everyone carries around his own monsters." ~ Richard Pryor
  • "Fear is only as deep as the mind allows." ~ Japanese Proverb

Cereal Mascot Therapy Session

"Cereal Mascot Therapy Session" by College Humor is the one of my very, very, very favorite YouTube videos ever.  Everyone knows how creepy and totally messed up cereal mascots are.  This is what would happen if all of the cereal mascots went to group therapy (hint: it isn't a good idea).  It is also one of the most quotable videos ever.

"It could be worse - you could work for Raisin Bran."  "Let's get this party started!  *sniff, sniff* Follow your nose!  *splat*"

*WARNING:  This video isn't very appropriate for kids of all ages, if ya know what I mean. (Don't worry, it's just language.  Jeez, what kind of person do you think I am?)

Rot & Ruin and Dust & Decay by Jonathan Maberry

Who doesn't love zombies?  I'll tell you who: losers.  Because I am not a loser, I am an avid reader of zombie books (I am seriously reading about five right now).  Now, some zombie books are stupid and cliche, but there are some zombie books that have true quality.  They have a solid plot, realistic and believable characters (except for the zombies, of course), and a good message at the end.  Two of these amazing zombie masterpieces are Rot & Ruin and Dust & Decay by Jonathan Maberry.

Jonathan Maberry is a multiple Bram Stoker Award-winning and New York Times bestselling author, playwright, and writing teacher/lecturer.  His other books include Patient Zero, Ghost Road Blues, Dead of Night, and Zombie CSU: The Forensics of the Living Dead.  You can find out more at his website.

Rot & Ruin
Summary:  Everything changed on the First Night.  Everything changed when the dead were no longer the dead.  Benny Imura has grown up in the zombie infested world of Rot and Ruin - what used to be America.  Now that he is fifteen, Benny must find work.  Despite his loathing of his older brother, Tom, he ends up joining the family business - namely, killing zombies (or "zoms").  Benny's view on zoms and people rapidly change as Tom teaches him and Benny finds out about Gameland - a place where kids are forced to fight zoms.  Now Benny has to determine who the real monsters in the world are.

What I thought of the book:
As you could probably tell, I absolutely loved this book.  The characters were great, especially Nix and Lilah.  Girl power!  And the villains rocked too - they were hard-core, bad to the bone kind of guys.  I mean, forcing kids to fight zoms?  How evil is that?!  I recommend this book to any high schoolers who aren't squeamish.

Dust & Decay (sequel to Rot & Ruin)
Summary:  After months of training with Tom and seeing the jet fly across Rot and Ruin, Nix, Benny, Lilah, and Tom are ready to leave their home.  Chong goes along for the first night, planning on just saying good-bye (and spending a little quality time with Lilah).  Unfortunately, their trip doesn't start well.  Wild animals are now roaming Rot and Ruin, there are swarms of zoms heading toward them, and, oh yeah, there are a couple of insane murderers after them.  Just when things couldn't get worse, Chong, Benny, and Nix are forced to fight in Gameland.

What I thought of the Book:
Honestly, this one was even better than the first.  Probably because this one had Sally Two-Knives, my personal favorite bounty hunter.  And I think the villains are even better in this one - more crazy, if you know what I mean.  If you liked Rot & Ruin, you'd love this book.

Success Kid Meme

How can you not love this meme?  It celebrates the little successes in our lives.  Did you know the original picture is of a kid eating sand?  And now he's the star of a success meme!  Success Kid, I think this was a success.

The Ballad of Mona Lisa by Panic! At the Disco

Look what I have for you guys - more music (oh, you know you love it)!  My friend actually showed me this song when he saw I liked the song Real World by the All American Rejects (you can find that song here).  When Brendon Urie (lead singer) started singing, I knew it was love at first sight (or would it be first hearing?  Whatever).  I am now a HUGE Panic! At the Disco Fan.  So please allow me to show you the song that first got me hooked on this amazing band (the please part was just me being nice - I'm going to show it to you whether you want me to or not).

Isn't his voice amazing?  Goodness, I could just sit here and listen to him all day.  *sigh*  Anyways, here is the lyric video.

Hope you like them as much as I do (though I'm not sure that's possible).

Peace, Sarcastic Chick

Smosh

Smosh. Chances are you've seen at least one of their videos before (I even posted one of their videos last year: Pokemon In Real Life!).  These guys are so amazing.  Some of their videos are kind of lame or just dumb (especially the earlier ones - ack, don't even watch those).  But 99% are hilarious and make me smile on even my worst days.  I also love reading their articles on The Smosh Pit.  The style is usually very dry and sarcastic (so of course I love it).  Anyway, let me show you my top five favorite Smosh videos.

WARNING:  Some of these videos are a bit inappropriate (but still freakin' hilarious).

The Legend of Zelda Rap [Music Video]:  Awesome for anyone into video games or knows someone who is way into video games.
Teens in the Wild!:  Don't pretend your parents haven't done at least some version of this.
The Harry Potter Pill!:  This one is for my friends ;)  "A single dose of the Potter Pill will end all of your suffering from the gaping hole that Harry Potter has left in your life."
Best Toy Ever!:  I seriously want a Happy Cow.
If Kids Shows Were Real!:  Because every year I swear kids shows get creepier and creepier.

Well, I was going to include Pokemon in Real Life (because it is AMAZING) but I didn't because I thought it might be a tad bit redundant to post it again.  But just in case you want to check it out and are just too darn lazy to find the other post, I'll add the links below.

Pokemon In Real Life!
Pokemon In Real Life 2! (my personal favorite)
Pokemon In Real Life 3!
Pokemon In Real Life 4! (that's right - they made a new one! Yeeees!)
